This is the first installment of my Dining Out Delta posts... and I can think of nowhere better to begin than a classic establishment with first-rate food. Boone's folks came from North Carolina two weeks ago and we took them to
the best steakhouse in the south...although there are other Doe's Eat Place's around the south these days, the original is still nestled in an old house in a neighborhood in Greenville, Mississippi.
People come from all around to order steaks, fries, hot tamales, broiled shrimp and a tangy homemade salad...but if you want something else, beware. Doe's has no menu. But then, if you want something else besides steak at a steak house, shame on you. It's such a treat that I took my camera along to
document the mouth-watering, seasoned just-right, totally deliciousness that IS Doe's filet and french fries...
One of my favorite parts of eating at Doe's is that as you walk in, you get to take a stroll through the kitchen and see the steaks grilling to perfection, and the vinegary salad dressing being poured over the lettuce, and the just-sliced potatoes being lowered into the cooking oil. It. Is. Heaven.
Unfortunately, my Weight Watcher's commitment went out the window that night...but it was totally worth saving all of my weekly "cheat" points for this big ole blow-out. If you want to come visit and make a trip, let me know!
